It’s hard to believe that it is March already, but we at “Loving Island Life” are pretty excited, because this is the time of year when the real estate market starts heating up. As usual, the first week of the month means First Friday Art Walk, and this week we want to feature our own Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. BIMA opened in June of 2013, so it is a very young museum, but it has already gained a reputation as a very special place. It has just been named one of the 15 Best Small-Town Museums in the U.S. by Fodor’s Travel. You can read what they had to say on their website.

One of the things we appreciate most about BIMA is the way they invite participation from our community. Here is some information from the website on how you can participate in their next window display:
“BIMA needs your help for its next window display! Stop in any day between now and our Spring Exhibitions Opening on March 11 and contribute to “Wishes for the World” which commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Japanese Exclusion. It’s simple, come to Bainbridge Island Museum of Art and leave a note on one of the provided pieces of origami paper. Is it full of hope or full of despair? Is it a poem or a prayer? Your message can be anything you want. Then BIMA artists will fold the papers and include in the installation. We look forward to seeing you in the Museum!”
