“Loving Island Life” J’aime Les Crepes

We at “Loving Island Life” consider ourselves very fortunate to live in a place that has really excellent food.  From the local products sold at our Farmer’s Market, to the very delicious meals we’ve had at our local restaurants.  Not only is the food great, but so are the business owners.

We were so impressed by news that Paul Pluska, owner of J’aime Les Crepes, not only pays his employees more than minimum wage, but has gone above and beyond by rewarding two employees a year with a trip to France.  Paul, in an interview with King 5 news said “It makes sense to me. You just get the most loyal employees. I mean they want to stay. They are happy, which translates to customers being happy which translates to even more business, so it all makes sense,”

Pluska currently owns two locations, the original in Kingston and now one on Bainbridge Island, and has 13 employees. The first employee that gets to travel abroad on his dime is 19-year-old Faith Knight.  Pluska is sending her to approximately a dozen creperies where she will have lunch and dinner.  Faith is in France right now, and we can’t wait to see what new and creative ideas she’ll bring back to Bainbridge.

Pluska views the trips as a way to continue to keep morale high and turnover low. He also wants his workers to have the same experience he did so they can see what inspired his business.
