Life on Bainbridge Island: April

Spring is finally here on beautiful Bainbridge Island—and oh, how sweet it is! The cherry blossoms are bursting, the sun is teasing us a little longer each day, and our amazing community is buzzing with events that truly showcase what makes this island so special. As someone who calls Bainbridge home and has had the joy of helping others make it their home, too, there’s nothing I love more than sharing all the wonderful things to do this time of year.
🌿 Bainbridge Island Farmers’ Market — Every Saturday, 10 AM – 2 PM
Let’s start with a classic. The Farmers’ Market is back in full swing every Saturday, and it’s one of my absolute favorite springtime rituals. Located next to City Hall, this is the place to grab your greens, fresh flowers, hand-spun wool, potstickers, and so much more. With over 40 local vendors and live music to boot, it’s the perfect way to ease into your weekend, coffee in hand and community all around.
🎶 Grand Jam at Treehouse Café — April 19
Mark your calendar and grab your dancing shoes! On Saturday, April 19th, the Treehouse Café is the place to be for the Grand Jam—a night of live music with a mission. The Bainbridge Island Land Trust and Parks & Trails Foundation are banding together to save nearly 40 acres of our beloved Grand Forest East. Come for the rockin’ bands (including a Bad Company tribute!), stay for the amazing cause. Tickets are just $30 and every penny goes to Stand for the Grand. Let’s dance, donate, and protect the green heart of our island!
🌎 Celebrate Earth Day on Bainbridge!
Art on the Green – April 20 (Winslow Green)
Celebrate Earth Day in true Bainbridge style—with creativity, color, and community! Head down to Winslow Green for Art on the Green, a free event featuring over 25 artists and artisans, kids’ art activities, live music, and an “Explore the Green” passport raffle. It’s a fun-filled day and a beautiful reminder of why we cherish this island so much.
Earth Day at Bloedel Reserve – April 27
The Bloedel Reserve is rolling out the green carpet for an Earth Day celebration that’s perfect for the whole family. From guided nature walks and lawn games to kid-friendly art stations and the City Nature Challenge, there’s so much to explore. Don’t forget to visit the plant sale and grab a Pegasus cold brew and Dude’s donut while you’re there. Pro tip: Reserve your spot ahead of time—parking fills up quickly!
📚 Friends of the Library Book Sale — April 17, 12–4 PM
Calling all book lovers! The Friends of the Library Book Sale is the treasure hunt you didn’t know you needed. With gently used books, CDs, and more—all for $1–$2—you’re bound to find something delightful. 🎨 First Friday Art Walk — May 2
Discover the vibrant heart of creativity at First Fridays Art Walk, happening every first Friday of the month right in the heart of downtown Bainbridge along Winslow Way. From 6:00 to 8:00 PM, our streets come alive with art, food, and community charm.
Wander through local galleries showcasing the work of incredible local artists, sip on refreshing drinks, and treat yourself to bites from our favorite island eateries. Explore unique shops, chat with artists and neighbors, and soak in the inspiring spirit of this creative little haven we call home.
Whether you’re an art lover or just looking for a fun Friday night out, this monthly event captures the true magic of Bainbridge Island.
