How to Spend a Rainy Day on Bainbridge Island
October through March is often referred to as “rain season” in the PNW, but don’t let the grey skies cast a gloom over your winter. While I might recommend you skip the beach or the parks, there is plenty of activities to do on a rainy day on Bainbridge Island.
Enjoy the Art
I would recommend the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) even if it weren’t raining. To start, this museum is free to the general public – they ask that you donate if you can. The heart of the BIMA is the contemporary art from the Puget Sound region. This showcase is continuing to grow, so with each visit, you can see something new.
Other places to soak in the art are at the many galleries around the island
Shop Small
The local shops on the island are one of the pillars of our small community. Downtown is filled with many unique shops that are fun to explore, and it’s also never too early to start your holiday shopping!
- Bainbridge Island Millstream for ceramics
- Salt House Mercantile for high-quality pantry goods
- Bainbridge Apothecary & Tea Shop for eco-friendly loose-leaf tea
- Eagle Harbor Book co. for all your book needs
- Plum for clothing, books, home goods, and more
- Covet for apparel, shoes, activewear, and accessories
Enjoy a wine tasting
Bainbridge Island is home to more wineries than many would expect. Bring a friend or a date and enjoy small bites, delicious wine, and good conversation during the drizzle.
