Here are Inside Bainbridge recommendations for the weekend of May 11-13, 2012.

1. Building a Sustainable Economy Lecture with Adam Siegel—Retail For the 21st Century 
When: Friday, 5:30-7 p.m.
Where: Bainbridge Island Museum of Art Auditorium
Why:

  • Adam Siegel is VP of Operations at the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA).
  • He’ll be talking about the trends and practices that can help local Bainbridge businesses
  • The event is hosted by the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce, Bainbridge Graduate Institute, Sustainable Bainbridge, and the Bainbridge Public Library

Admission is $10 per person and space is limited. Sign up on the Chamber website. No tickets will be available at the door.

Shir Hayam 2. Shabbat Potluck
When: Friday, 6:30-9 p.m.
Where: Call 567-9414 to get the street address.
Why: The Shir Hayam Jewish Community holds their monthly Shabbat Potluck in the warmth of members’ homes rather than a synagogue. Visiting/guest rabbis and teachers lead.

3. The Full Monty
The Full MontyWhen: Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m., and Sundays, 3 p.m.Where: Bainbridge Performing Arts, 200 Madison Avenue North
Why: You know the story. Come and see if the actors have what it takes! ;) Rated R.

$27 for adults, $22 for seniors, and $19 for students, youth, military, and teachers.

4. Fancy Ketchup and Other Cultural Phenomena: The Glee and Vocé Spring Concert
When: Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
Where: BHS Theatre
Why: Confused about the ketchup? Here is Glee’s explanation: “Like fancy ketchup, Glee and Vocé will feature songs that have strange histories, recipes unlikely for success.” Still confused? Better go and find out.

Tickets are $10-$15. They are available now at Winslow Drug, online at www.ovationmtb.com, by phone at 842-0472, and at the door (as available).

Bike Your Watershed 5. Bike Your Watershed
When: Saturday, 10 a.m.
Where: Starts at Waterfront Park off of Bjune Drive
Why:

  • This 12-mile ride includes 6 watershed stops with interpretive guides at each spot.
  • Organized by the Bainbridge Island Watershed Council and co-sponsored by Sustainable Bainbridge, Squeaky Wheels, and Earth Right Insight
  • You can win raffle prizes.
  • Munch on an “edible aquifer” educational and delicious treat at the end of the ride back at Waterfront Park.

6. Safeway Wine Tasting Event Mother’s Day Weekend
When: Saturday, 12-4 p.m.
Where: Safeway, 253 High School Rd NE.
Why:

  • Get your Mom some wine.
  • It’s free.
  • Wines include Chateau Ste. Michelle Indian Wells Chardonnay, Chateau Ste. Michelle Indian Wells Cabernet, and Chateau Ste. Michelle Horse Heaven Sauvignon Blanc.

7. Aging with Choice: Determining Your Own Path
When: Saturday, 2-4 p.m.
Where: Congregation Kol Shalom, 9010 Miller Road
Why:

  • Karen Klein, CEO of Silver Planet, and Dr. Pat Borman, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Medicine of Medical Home Visits will be discussing those pesky legal, financial, and medical issues that we can’t avoid.
