“Loving Island Life” The story of Joe and Peggy.

12/21/2011

This week’s “Loving Island Life” blog features a very special story about Joe and Peggy.  They have lived on Bainbridge Island for almost 30 years and have been married for over 65 years.  Joe will be celebrating his 90th birthday soon.  A few months ago Joe reached out to Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty on Bainbridge Island.  He sat down with me and Dennis Paige (Founding Director Realogics Sotheby’s Realty Bainbridge Island) to discuss the sale of his home.  He explained that his wife was in a care facility in nearby Poulsbo and he was driving twenty miles round trip every day to be by her side.  He explained that he needed to sell his home to be closer to his wife and also to help cover increasing medical expenses.  Dennis and I knew we had a very special client and we were going to do everything in our power to make this happen.

The next few months were a whirlwind of pre-inspection repairs, updating, landscaping, painting, and staging.  The best part was that upon hearing the story and meeting Joe, people started to roll up their sleeves and make things happen.  The stager (Katrina) and her team at Embellish Design in Poulsbo WA offered her services pro bono.  She left punch lists for Joe every day and Joe would complete every item every day!  Carpenters, electricians, landscapers, neighbors, family members, people from our office were all going the extra mile to get things ready.  It was really an unbelievable time of seeing the very best of everyone involved.  After months of hard work we were ready to go “Live” with Joe and Peggy’s home.  The broker’s open was fantastic and the reviews were all terrific.  Then the very best thing happened, two great offers in the first few days!  We all wanted to stand up and shout “Yeah!”   This was truly a Holiday Gift and the kindness and good will surrounding Joe and Peggy made this happen.  The closing only took a few weeks and Joe now lives in his own apartment just down the hall from his beloved wife Peggy.  His only complaint is “they are feeding me too much.”  :0)

I hope everyone enjoys this story and to my peers in the Real Estate profession, remember that we can and do make a difference in people’s lives every day.

This is my wish for you: peace of mind, prosperity through the year, happiness every day, health for you and yours, fun around every corner, energy to chase your dreams, joy to fill your holidays!

Dennis, Joe, Sonja
